Small constructions

Beside the forts, batteries and casemats there are many more smaller constructions to be found in the Defence Line. This is a list of such groups of constructions.

Secundary batteries

In 1907 the army build 16 concrete secundary batteries, mostly near forts in the western half of the Defence Line. The open batteries provided protection for two to four pieces of heavy field artillerie and had some ammunition-storage space. Three have since been demolished.

Forbidden circle houses

Because of the Kringenwet (Circle Law), several circles were specified around defensive works which strongly limited what could be built in these circles to maintain or quickly create an open line of fire. Still visible today are the easily to demolish wooden houses near some of the forts, batteries and fortresses.
